That's why we offer the Developer Plan - a completely free plan designed specifically for developers, freelancers, and agencies working with non-paying Shopify stores. We believe in supporting the entire professional community by providing full access to our import and export capabilities while you're building and testing.
Eligible Store Types
The Developer Plan is automatically available to stores running on non-paying Shopify subscriptions, including:
Shopify Partner development stores used by agencies and freelancers for building and testing client projects
App development stores for creating and testing Shopify apps
Theme development stores for designing and customizing store themes
Shopify trial accounts during the initial trial period
Shopify Plus Partner sandbox environments for enterprise development and testing by agencies
Plus development stores used by agencies and freelancers for complex B2B implementations
Developer Plan Features
The Developer Plan includes comprehensive access to Altera's core functionality:
Unlimited Import & Export
No limits on imports: Process as many import jobs as needed for your development and client work
No limits on exports: Export data as frequently as required for testing, development, and client projects
All data types supported: Full access to Products, Orders, Customers, Collections, and all other supported data types
Complete file format support: Work with Excel files (.xlsx, .xls), CSV files, and Google Sheets
Full Feature Access
Data transformations: Access to our data transformation features for restructuring exports
Real-time progress tracking: Monitor your imports and exports as they process
Detailed results reporting: Get comprehensive feedback on import success and failure reasons
Priority processing: Developer Plan jobs receive the same priority as paid plan jobs
Built for Shopify quality: Same reliable, secure experience as our paid plans
Plan Limitations
The Developer Plan has minimal limitations to support development workflows:
Scheduling Restrictions
No scheduled exports: Automated/recurring exports are not available on the Developer Plan
No scheduled imports: Automated/recurring imports are not available on the Developer Plan
Manual jobs only: All imports and exports must be initiated manually through the app interface
Note: These scheduling features are typically not needed during development phases, as developers, freelancers, and agencies usually need on-demand data processing for testing and client project purposes.
Plan Transition
When your Shopify store transitions from a development/trial status to a paying subscription:
Automatic Detection
Plan change required: Altera will detect when your store moves to a paid Shopify plan
Notification: You'll receive notice that you need to select a new Altera plan
Upgrade Process
Easy transition: Upgrading to a paid plan is straightforward through the app settings
Data preservation: All your existing data, jobs, and configurations are preserved during the transition
Feature unlock: Paid plans unlock scheduling features and additional capabilities
Available Paid Plans
Community Plan: Continue with free access but with some limitations
Professional Plans: Full feature access including scheduling, priority support, and advanced features
