Goal: Set up an export once and reuse it. You save the export settings as a named configuration, load it when you need the same export again, and rename or delete configurations that you no longer need. You can also clone an export job that already ran.
Prerequisites:
You have Altera installed on your Shopify store
Save an export configuration
A saved export configuration keeps all the settings on the export page: the data types, the columns, the filters, the options, the file format, the scheduling settings, and the export location (remote connection).
In Altera, click New export.
Select the data types, columns, filters, and options that you want.
In the title bar, click Save.
Enter a name for the configuration in Name, for example
Weekly orders for accounting.Click Save.
The message Configuration saved appears. The configuration is saved for your store, so every staff member who uses Altera on the store can load it.
When you click Save again with the same name, Altera saves a second configuration. It does not overwrite the first one.
Load a saved configuration for a new export
In Altera, click New export.
In the title bar, click Load (if you do not see Load, the store has no saved configurations yet).
Select the configuration.
Check the settings and change them if necessary. If the configuration has a schedule, check the start date and time.
Click Start export.
Altera creates a new export job. The saved configuration does not change.
Clone an export job
You do not need a saved configuration to repeat an earlier export. You can clone any export job:
In Altera, click Jobs.
Open the export job that you want to copy.
Click More actions > Clone. In the jobs list, you can also click the Duplicate icon on the row of the job.
Change the settings that you want, for example the filters or the columns.
Click Start export.
If the job sends its file to a remote connection (for example Google Sheets, Google Drive, or an FTP server), a message tells you that the clone sends its file to the same connection. To keep the file in Altera only, remove the remote connection before you start the export.
To run the same export again without changes, open the job and click Run again. Run again uses the same job. With a Google Sheets connection, Run again updates the same spreadsheet, and a clone creates a new spreadsheet on its first run.
Rename a saved configuration
In Altera, click Settings > Export configurations.
Click the Edit icon next to the configuration.
Enter the new name in Name.
Click Save.
You can only change the name here. To change the settings of a saved configuration, load it on the export page, change the settings, save it with a new name, and then delete the old configuration.
Delete a saved configuration
In Altera, click Settings > Export configurations.
Click the Delete icon next to the configuration.
Click Delete to confirm.
You cannot undo a deletion. Export jobs that you created from the configuration are not changed or deleted.
Saved configurations cannot be archived. If you want to keep a configuration but not see it in the list, rename it instead (for example, add Old to the start of the name). Export jobs can be archived: open the job and click More actions > Archive. An archived job no longer runs on its schedule. To see archived jobs, click Jobs > View archived.
Outcome
Your saved configurations are on the Settings > Export configurations page and in the Load menu of the export page. You can start the same export again in a few clicks.
