Understanding the job detail page interface for import and export jobs

Updated yesterday

Overview

The job detail page is your central hub for managing and monitoring individual import or export jobs in Altera. Whether you're tracking the progress of a running job, downloading completed files, or reviewing configuration details, this page provides comprehensive information and controls for each job.

You can access the job detail page by clicking on any job from your Jobs list, or by navigating directly to a job using its unique Job ID.

Page Sections and Features

Job Status and Progress

For jobs that have been run, the top section displays:

  • Current step: Shows which step is currently running (e.g., "Import Orders (Step 1/1)")

  • Progress bar: Visual indicator of completion percentage

  • Item counts: Number of items processed vs. total items

  • Status badge: Current job status (Success, Processing, Error, etc.)

  • Duration: How long the job has been running or total runtime

  • All steps: List of all steps with status indicators

For import jobs, if any step has failed items, you can click on the "failed items" link to see the first few errors. This helps you debug issues faster without waiting for the entire job to complete.

File Retention Policy

Files are automatically deleted after 180 days by default. When files are no longer available the download button will become disabled.

Important: Make sure to download any important files within 180 days of creation. See our Data Retention Policy for more details.

Import Results (imports only)

This section displays the results from your import job, showing up to 25 items from each result category:

  • Successful items: Items that were successfully created or updated

  • Failed items: Items that encountered errors during import

  • Skipped items: Items that were skipped based on your import settings

Depending on your import results, you may see up to 75 items total across all three categories.

Each item in the results list is clickable - clicking on any item will open a link to that specific item in your Shopify Admin where you can verify the imported data matches your expectations.

This feature helps you spot-check your imports without having to manually search for the newly created or updated items in Shopify.

Data Types (exports only)

This section shows all the data types included in your export job (Products, Orders, Customers, etc.). Clicking on any data type opens a detailed modal showing:

  • Configured columns: All fields included in the export

  • Filters: Any filters applied to limit which data is processed

  • Options: Additional settings specific to that data type

  • Data transformations: Any automatic transformations applied (if configured)

All Job Runs (exports only)

If an export job has been run multiple times, this section shows a table of all previous runs with:

  • Run ID: Unique identifier for each run

  • Type: Manual start (play icon) or scheduled start (replay icon)

  • Status: Success, Error, Cancelled, etc.

  • Started/Finished times: When each run began and completed

Use the pagination controls to navigate through older runs.

Security note: Anyone with the public URL can download the file however the URL will include a random identifier that is difficult to guess.

Import Errors

If your import job shows failed items:

  1. Click on the "failed items" link in the All Steps section

  2. Review the error messages to understand what went wrong

  3. Fix issues in your source file and run the job again

File Not Available

If you can't download files:

  • Check if the job is older than 180 days

  • Files may have been automatically deleted per our retention policy

  • Contact support if you need help with file recovery options

Job Stuck or Taking Too Long

For jobs that seem stuck:

  1. Use the Cancel button to stop the current run

  2. Check for any error messages or warnings

  3. Try running the job again

  4. Contact support if issues persist

Getting Help

If you encounter issues or have questions about a specific job, the Job ID is the most important piece of information to provide to our support team. You can find it in the Job Details section and copy it to your clipboard for easy sharing.
